Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
As featured on ABC Catalyst recently, and now on ABC iView...
The next MBSR course will start on Monday 14th October 2019 at Buderim
This course, originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is THE original mindfulness course that has been changing people's lives all over the world and exciting science in the process. Nearly four decades of scientific research has found the way mindfulness is taught in this course to be highly effective in helping people get the full benefits that are possible from practicing mindfulness.
The Mindfulness Experiment
ABC Catalyst recently followed a group of 15 people doing the MBSR course. You can watch their inspiring journey on ABC iView (Click on the image to watch).
What will you learn?
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course brings the principles of mindfulness into everyday life by teaching specific skills and practices that can be incorporated into daily life to help break cycles of anxiety, stress, unhappiness and exhaustion.
The wide range of benefits people report from doing this course tend to fall into three categories:
More emotional balance: being less reactive, managing emotions more easily; being more in touch with emotions and feeling more comfortable with them; able to utilize the signals that emotions give you. People struggling with anxiety, depression, stress and stress related health issues report a lot of benefits from doing the course.
Increased focus and presence: being present for your life, your loved ones, your work, instead of living on autopilot, lost in over-thinking. Being able to appreciate the simple pleasures of everyday life, not letting life pass you by. Feeling less overwhelmed by a busy job and being able to function more effectively.
More clarity and better choices: being more in touch with the real You, your values, and what matters to you most. Being able to make wiser, more conscious choices in interactions with others, at work and around self-care.
What does the course consist of?
The course consists of 8 weekly sessions of 2.5 hr, a one day retreat, an inspiring and easy to read 100+ pages course book, access to a range of guided mindfulness meditation practices, emails with additional information, individual support where needed - and your commitment to creating a happier life for yourself, by practicing mindfulness meditation every day!
Weekly sessions offer a supportive, safe and stimulating environment, and are a combination of guided mindfulness practices, psycho-education, group discussions and exercises.
