Discover how to tame your mind and feel more in charge of yourself and your life

Welcome!

Life can be pretty complicated these days, and we can all find ourselves struggling with it sometimes. Having someone to talk to who is completely there just for you, who is patient, understanding and caring, and who really loves helping people resolve their problems can make all the difference.

My name is Astrid and I am a mindfulness and body-based counsellor/psychotherapist with more than 10 years of experience. I am also an internationally certified mindfulness teacher.

I'd love to help you vastly improve your life!

I see people on Mondays and Thursdays at Moffat Beach (Caloundra), and on Tuesdays and Fridays at Maleny.

What exactly can this help with?

Some of the common reasons people seek the help of a counsellor or psychotherapist:

  • Wanting to change a sabotaging, self-restricting pattern that keeps getting in the way of you being the kind of person you would really like to be, or living life the way you would like to.

  • Anxiety, stress, depression, problematic anger and other difficult emotions

  • A challenging life situation or change such as a relationship break-up, serious/chronic health issues, job loss/change or the death of a loved one

  • Feeling stuck, lacking direction in life

  • Issues with self-confidence and self-compassion

  • Personal growth and development.

And many more! Life is just pretty complicated these days, and we all need a bit of special support and guidance sometimes.

What happens in a session?

A counselling or psychotherapy session is a collaborative process between you and me and not something I 'do' to you. You remain an active participant the entire time. My style of counselling is gentle, authentic and compassionate. My priority is to help you to feel safe, at ease, respected and understood. Together we look at what is bothering you in your life and I help you explore those issues and find ways forward.

I might teach you some mindfulness meditations to help you connect more deeply with yourself, and to learn to work with your own mind and body. We might also do some simple experiments to try out different behaviours. I will often suggest some 'homework' for you to do in between sessions, so that you can start making some changes in your life.

What unfolds can feel like a bit of a magical process, as often you will come to find your own answers or solutions. Sometimes significant changes can be made in just a few sessions; at times the process can take a lot longer. â€‹â€‹This also depends on how important your own wellbeing and happiness is for you!
